It has been a while on the page....

It has been a while on the page....

Not because we had nothing to do but because it is very busy. But now it's really time to post something again.🙂

In addition to being flooded with surrender requests and found turtles, we are increasingly receiving turtles with fishing hooks.

A huge problem! It is not only very painful for a turtle, but also life-threatening. If a fishing hook is too far and once it ends up in the stomach, it is often difficult to do anything about it...

"Luckily" this lady had a hook in her tongue and was quickly rid of it. Unfortunately, turtles are still often thrown back into the water when the line is cut and we would like to ask you to ALWAYS help a turtle with a hook.

It is an extremely painful and slow death, we do not have to explain that to anyone.

Do you have a turtle on the leash? Then cut the line as long as possible and do something about it so that the hook can not be swallowed further.

Place the turtle in a sealed container or bucket with a towel, then call a turtle-friendly animal ambulance. www.schildpad-vriendelijk.nl ) or 088 444 0 700. www.schildpad-gevonden.nl
