Everyone knows how important ventilation is nowadays...

When keeping turtles, this is no different. Ventilation is good and necessary but make sure that it does not become trips... because that makes turtles sick.

Unfortunately, two weeks ago our main fan of the shelter had broken down, it was already an older system and there were already plans to renew it. Unfortunately, we didn’t have the money for this yet. But when we asked Stichting Dierenlot for help, they quickly agreed to pay for the new ventilator and accessories!!

Shortly afterwards we were able to order the fan and asked a small company from the region to install it, because we could not do this ourselves. A hole had to be made in the roof, but because this weakens the structure, it was decided to place the fan on the side of the highest roof. This has now succeeded to our full satisfaction!

This fan can move as much as 6000 m3 of air per hour. These are of course huge amounts which is not always necessary. Therefore, this fan is equipped with a special control system that monitors the air quality on CO2 level and humidity. Based on these values, the ventilation volume is controlled.

We and all the turtles are super grateful to Dierenlot and her donors again!!
