Crate full of turtles dumped at Reptilica Hilversum.

Crate full of turtles dumped at Reptilica Hilversum.

Yesterday morning (Sunday 10 September) a crate full of turtles was dumped at the Dudok Arena in Hilversum where Reptilica was taking place.

These heavily neglected animals were found crammed together in one crate.

3 Russian fourteen (land) turtles and 4 red-chested (water) turtles have been left here deliberately.

From tortoises are deadly ill, are full of (old) bite wounds, have a skin infection and terrible overgrown mouths and jaws. The aquatic turtles look good on the other hand.

We have no idea why these animals were left there.

The police were on site and the animals were brought to us via the animal ambulance. Medical treatment was started immediately. None of the animals are chipped.

We are urgently looking for witnesses!

Hopefully someone has seen something yesterday 10 September before 10.00 or in the night of 9 to 10 September. You can report this (anonymously) to us via 088 444 0 777 or [e-mailadres: schakel JavaScript in om het adres te bekijken]

Of course, you can also report directly to the police in Hilversum.

Of course, the owner is also free to contact us via the above details. We often indicate that dumping is not necessary and we always want to help and / or think along. Even if there are no financial resources, for example. We will not take any action if the owner can tell us why he/she made this choice.

Would you like to help pay the costs to get these tortoises back in top shape? Your donation will be doubled this month by Stichting DierenLot
