Turtle stuck in ice De Westereen

Turtle stuck in ice De Westereen

Today (2nd Christmas Day) we were alerted by a lot of people to a post on facebook with a frozen turtle. As soon as we knew this, we immediately left to pick up the animal. Unfortunately, the turtle had already died upon arrival. Given the condition, it turns out that the animal had been dead for a few days.

The turtle was badly injured at the top and bottom of the shield. This type of injury is caused by cracking locks. Due to this maintenance of ditch walls with large equipment, turtles are often (fatal) injured. This is because they hide mainly in ditches.

This is another painful example of how turtles come to a brutal end when they are dumped in the wild. In addition to slow starvation, which can last for years, this type of accident is also the most common cause of death of released turtles....

We would like to thank everyone who saw this notification and contacted us, especially the finder of course.
