Two weeks ago Jack the Greek from Leiden went for a walk...

Despite the fact that he had a whole garden at his disposal, he decided to explore the big evil world. Did he know that that is not a place for tortoises like him. He just decided it and what Jack has in his head, he doesn't have in his ass.

Jack's owner thought the garden was sealed off turtle-proof. But unfortunately: Jack had retired to the wide world.

He's always looking for beautiful ladies, but he doesn't want to say anything about that. He clearly invokes his right of silence. Because soon Jack ended his adventure and some strange man threw soot in the food.

Suddenly he sat in a small box waiting for his mother to be called. Caught. Shit!

After a wandering through the animal ambulance, Jack is back home. Luckily he was registered on amivedi and had a registered chip.

Of course, he was clearly told what could have happened. He could have been hit, or drowned in a ditch. Can be eaten by rats or can be picked by birds.

Well, Jack himself thinks it's all a little nonsense but that doesn't matter either: we humans have to take care that our pets are safe and stay safe.

Currently, many tortoises are found all over the Netherlands. Many of them are not chipped and the search for the boss takes a lot of time for us.

Jack therefore wants to make an appeal to all turtle parents in the Netherlands: Let my fellow species chip and register that chip. Make sure to check the housing extra carefully and shield your housing if your animals are still small so that birds can not pick them out.
Tortoises, but also aquatic turtles, can climb very well. That's why he also shows his new house under construction here at the bottom of the post.

Jack gets a nice conservatory in the residence where he can not dig underneath but also can not climb over.

Jack's new residence with sturdy boards, also overhanging, and no mesh anymore.

Don’t think that Jack’s fellow species are more suffering than he is, tortoises are true masters in escape and can climb in mesh very well.
